Goat Cheese Toastinis

I need to come up with a better name for these tasty little snacks, but they are one of my go-to party foods. (Update-- thanks, gentle reader! Goat Cheese Toastinis sound much tastier than Goat Cheese Bites.)

Ingredients
1 long, thin loaf of french bread, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1 brick of goat cheese
walnut halves
honey
pepper

How To
1. Smear each piece of bread with a generous amount of goat cheese. Sprinkle with pepper.
2. Arrange the bread on a cookie sheet and place in the oven on a low rack.
3. Broil for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is hot and slightly browned.
4. Press a walnut half into the center of the cheese on each piece, then return the pan to the oven, just long enough to warm and slightly toast the walnut.
5. Remove from the oven and drizzle honey over each piece. Serve warm.

Variations
Using the broiler requires careful attention. If you're running around, trying to get ready for a dinner party, babysitting your snacks is the last thing you should be doing. Instead of broiling, you can bake these at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
