Eating Out: Memphis: Brother Juniper's

We're in Memphis for 3 days but we don't have the pleasure of eating our way through town on this trip. We're here for a wedding and have spent most of our calories at rehearsal dinners and brunches and other delicious meals arranged by the happy couple. With that in mind, I tried to make our meals count and scoured the internet for a great breakfast spot. The folks on Yelp! raved about Brother Juniper's and they were not wrong.

If you go on a weekend, you'll face a wait-- ours was about 40 minutes-- but you can help yourself to a free cup of coffee while you stand around a talk with friendly, hungry people. Here we are, making our hungry faces.

Eventually, we were seated at a long wooden counter. Service is fast, friendly and accurate.

Homemade hot sauce is always within reach (and for sale next to the register.)

This is what I had facing me during my meal. There are Christian icons and images all around the restaurant but there's something very friendly about their use. The restaurant is an old cottage that's been modified to serve as a restaurant. It feels good in there.

Patrick ordered a Denver omelet that came with a biscuit and lovely little home fries.

I had a cacophony of carbohydrates-- potatoes with chorizo sausage, green onions, green peppers, cheddar cheese, all topped with sour cream. I'm going to remember those potatoes my whole life through. It came with a biscuit and Patrick and I split an order of gravy:

As we were eating, Patrick and I began talking about something for the first time ever in our relationship-- going on a diet. We were sinners, promising to go to church. But not before popping a bite of fresh-from-the-oven biscuit slathered with blue raspberry preserves into our greedy little mouths.

How fun!! I feel like I'm right there with you guys, except I'm the inbred, cyclops son who can only see from behind the security glass window.

PS I love your earrings.
